On 7/10, Quang Ngai Provincial Police announced the extradition of Tran Thanh Long to the locality for investigation into fraudulent appropriation of property.
According to case files, in 2015, in Kon Tum ward, Quang Ngai province, Long, also known as Tran Huu Sam, made false claims about his ability to secure jobs within the police force. Believing these claims, one person gave Long 400 million VND to handle the necessary procedures.
Long subsequently fled the area, with his whereabouts unknown. In 9/2025, Quang Ngai Provincial Police issued a wanted notice for Long.
Recognizing that the incident not only caused damage to citizens but also seriously affected the reputation of the force, Quang Ngai Provincial Police launched a special investigation. They coordinated with units from the Ministry of Public Security, local police, border guards, and Cambodian authorities to track him down.
On 2/10, the task force apprehended Long at the Moc Bai border gate, adjacent to Cambodia.
