M'Drak commune police on 6/10 prosecuted Y Chuong Bya, releasing him on bail, as they investigate his actions of property destruction.
An initial investigation revealed that Chuong and H Yo Bya, 19, married and lived with her family. On the afternoon of 26/7, H Yo attended a party in the commune. Around 1 p.m., Chuong watched a livestream on Facebook, seeing his wife drinking beer and dancing with other women.
Disapproving of her actions, Chuong called his wife, asking her to return home, but H Yo refused.
Later that afternoon, with his wife still absent, Chuong proceeded to smash and chop up many household items. Following this, he gathered clothes into a pile in front of the bedroom door, poured gasoline, and set them on fire.
The fire consumed two rooms in his in-laws' house. After committing the act, Chuong fled to his mother's home.
