Investigations revealed that on the morning of 21/6, relatives were unable to reach Ngo and his wife, Nguyen Thi Yen, also 57. They went to the family's coffee farm in Tan Lap 2 village, Pong Drang commune, where they discovered Ms. Yen had died and Ngo was absent from the scene. Following forensic examination and evidence collection, police determined it was a homicide, with the victim's husband identified as the suspect.
Authorities determined that after the crime, Ngo fled by motorcycle to Khanh Hoa province, then took a bus to his hometown in Ha Tinh to evade capture. Persuaded by police and relatives, he surrendered to Ha Tinh Provincial Police that same afternoon, 21/6, confessing to the entire incident.
According to Ngo's testimony, on the morning of 20/6, while working on their farm, an argument arose between him and his wife regarding coffee branch pruning techniques. In a fit of anger, he retrieved a screwdriver from his motorcycle's trunk and stabbed his wife multiple times, resulting in her death.
