An Giang Provincial Police have issued a wanted notice for Tran Le Linh, 29, on charges of property extortion. Linh is accused of leading a group that compelled karaoke and restaurant hostesses to pay regular "protection money" in Oc Eo commune.
Investigations revealed that the extortion scheme began in February last year. Linh and his associates visited karaoke bars and restaurants, confronting owners, managers, and hostesses. They initially demanded 10,000 VND per table. The group reportedly threatened physical harm or business disruption if their demands were not met.

Linh's group would regularly collect money from these establishments on a weekly basis.
By 10/2025, the extortion method evolved, with the group imposing a fixed fee of 300,000 VND per week on each hostess. Authorities have identified 11 victims who were collectively extorted of over 66 million VND.
More than three months ago, An Giang Provincial Police initiated legal proceedings and issued an arrest warrant for Linh. However, the suspect absconded before he could be apprehended.
In connection with the ongoing case, investigators have also charged four other individuals with property extortion.
Authorities are urging the public to report any information regarding Linh's whereabouts to the nearest police station.
