On 14/8, Can Tho City Police prosecuted Tan, 43 years old, and prohibited him from leaving his residence. This action is part of an investigation into the infringement of industrial property rights, as per article 226 of the Penal Code.

Previously, the Economic Police Department of Can Tho City Police inspected Tan's large-scale store at 103 Mau Than street, Ninh Kieu ward. Officers discovered thousands of shoes and sandals bearing famous brands protected in Vietnam, with prices ranging from several hundred thousand to millions of VND per pair.

The store owner could not produce invoices or documents proving the origin of the goods. Authorities seized over 1,500 pairs of shoes and sandals with brands including Polo, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Adidas, Gucci, Crocs, Burberry, Dior, Versace, Lacoste, Nike, and Hermes.

Initially, Tan admitted to buying and selling these counterfeit branded goods, stating their total value exceeded 200 million VND.

Thousands of counterfeit products found at two other stores

Previously, in June, the Economic Police Department of Can Tho City Police also uncovered another operation. They discovered Thanh Duong Luxury store on Tam Vu street, Tan An ward, owned by Huynh Phuong Duy, 33 years old. This store produced thousands of counterfeit sandals from brands like Hermes, Gucci, Burberry, LV, Dior, and Versace, selling them online for 600,000 to 2.2 million VND.

Concurrently, police inspected Thanh Hien Luxury store on Nguyen Binh street, Cai Khe ward, owned by Huynh Thanh Hien, 24 years old. Officers seized over 3,000 counterfeit fashion items, including shirts, pants, bags, and hats, bearing brand names such as Hermes, Gucci, Burberry, LV, and Dior. The total value of these goods was approximately 14 billion VND.
