On 18/12, Trieu Van An, residing in My Hiep commune, Dong Thap province, was arrested by the Dong Thap Provincial Police Criminal Investigation Department for sexually assaulting a person under 16.

According to police records, An met the 13-year-old girl from the same commune online two years ago. Using the pretense of going out, he drove the victim to a relative's house in Thanh My commune to stay overnight.

During their stay, An demanded sexual relations, but the girl refused. Despite the victim's pleas to return home, An refused, held her, and assaulted her multiple times.

The victim's family later discovered the incident, brought their daughter home, and reported it to the police. In early 5/2025, investigators initiated legal proceedings and indicted An. As An was not present in the locality at that time, an arrest warrant was issued for him.

Yesterday, detectives located An at his private residence in My Hiep commune, coordinating with local police to apprehend him.
