On 27/1, Nguyen Trong Binh, 41, Tran Dinh Trung, 39, residing in Hue City, and five others were detained by the Dak Lak Provincial Police for organizing gambling and gambling.

Previously, on 23/1, more than 30 police officers simultaneously raided 11 locations where illegal lottery numbers were being recorded across Dak Lak province and Hue City. Authorities seized over 100 million VND, 20 mobile phones, and numerous related documents and exhibits.

Initial investigations by authorities determined that Binh and Trung led the illegal lottery ring, which processed over 200 million VND for gamblers. The total transaction value for the operation, from 10/2025 to present, reached nearly 10 billion VND.

To evade detection, the group avoided direct collection of lottery slips. Instead, they used phone messages and various messaging applications, including Viber, Zalo, Messenger, and Telegram. At the end of each day, winnings and losses with gamblers were settled based on the lottery results from the northern, central, and southern regions. All messages related to transactions were subsequently deleted.

Police are expanding the investigation.
