On 11/7, Da Nang City Police announced the temporary detention of Vo Anh Kiet and Tran Quoc Dung, both 17 years old, on charges of disturbing public order. Tran Xuan Quang, 16, was released on bail.
According to the investigation, around 8 PM on 3/7, two groups of teenagers riding motorbikes encountered each other on Quoc Lo 1A, near Vinh Duc General Hospital. A conflict quickly escalated into challenges between them.
During the initial chase, one group threw glass bottles at the other. The opposing group then entered a football field, retrieved a piece of wood about 2 meters long, and returned to retaliate. As they crossed Cau Quang Hau, one person threw the wood onto the road to obstruct their rivals, but it was unsuccessful.
After losing sight of their rivals, one group went to Vo Anh Kiet's house, recruited more individuals for revenge, and prepared pepper spray and numerous glass bottles.
Meanwhile, the rival group also recruited Tran Xuan Quang, bringing a homemade knife measuring 54 cm and several glass bottles to confront them.
Around 8:15 PM that same day, the two groups clashed on DT607 street. Members drove their motorbikes at speeds of approximately 70 km/h, swerving dangerously, weaving through traffic, and throwing glass bottles at each other in the middle of the road, posing a serious threat to other road users.
In front of a house on Tran Thu Do street, Vo Anh Kiet accelerated, closing in on a rival motorbike. A passenger on Kiet's motorbike then used pepper spray on the rival driver, causing the vehicle to lose control and crash into the roadside. All three individuals on that motorbike fell.
As a result, three teenagers sustained severe injuries: one suffered a traumatic brain injury and multiple head traumas; another had a broken femur, patella damage, and a broken arm; and the third sustained a broken finger, deep lacerations to the arm, and knee injuries. Residents transported the victims to the emergency room.
During the scene investigation, police seized three motorbikes (one of which had a fake license plate), one homemade knife, and one can of pepper spray as evidence for the ongoing investigation.
