Around noon on 21/11, social media posts claiming "Am Chua dam broke," "Suoi Dau dam broke," and "Urgent news, residents of Cho Ga, Nha Trang must evacuate" appeared. These reports caused widespread panic among local residents already struggling with severe flooding. Police confirmed the information was false, could easily mislead the public, and hindered disaster prevention and response efforts by emergency teams.
According to the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, floods in Central Vietnam have so far resulted in 45 deaths. Dak Lak suffered the most significant casualties with 17 deaths, followed by Khanh Hoa with 14, Lam Dong with 5, Gia Lai with three, and Thua Thien Hue and Da Nang each reporting two deaths. Additionally, nine people remain missing.
The floods damaged 945 homes and submerged over 28,400 houses, including: 6,500 in Gia Lai, 11,500 in Dak Lak, and 10,400 in Khanh Hoa.
