Police investigate kindergarten following reports of alleged child mistreatment

Police and ward authorities are investigating reports of a boy allegedly receiving inappropriate treatment from teachers at a kindergarten in Tam Binh ward.

On the afternoon of 18/7, Nguyen Minh Dien, Chairman of Tam Binh Ward People's Committee, announced that local authorities had formed a task force to collaborate with the police and work with the kindergarten. The boy's mother, the principal, and several involved teachers were also summoned to the Tam Binh Ward Police headquarters for questioning. The meeting lasted for several hours.

"If the verification results reveal any wrongdoing, strict action will be taken in accordance with regulations", Dien stated.

Previously, social media circulated a post and video shared by a parent, alleging her son received inappropriate treatment from teachers while attending the school.

According to the family's report, over several months, the boy was often separated from other children during naptime, made to lie near the restroom door, next to a trash can, and on a doormat. At times, he was left alone in the storage room and kitchen areas and even left the school premises during class hours before being returned by residents.

Speaking to VnExpress, Ms. Linh, the boy's mother, stated her son exhibits mild hyperactivity. The family noticed the boy's psychological changes, fear of school, and declining health, leading to multiple medical examinations without a determined cause.

"Upon reviewing the classroom footage, I was shocked by events involving my son that the family was completely unaware of", Ms. Linh said. She expressed hope that authorities would fully investigate the incident, clarify the responsibilities of involved individuals, and ensure the safety of other children attending the school.

According to Ms. Linh, after meeting with the family, the teachers admitted to shortcomings in child care and management, including allowing the boy to lie outside the room during naptime, near the restroom door.

In videos provided by the mother, the kindergarten principal stated she was aware of the situation earlier and had instructed teachers to rectify child care practices, demanding that similar incidents not recur.

The classroom attended by the boy has about 40 children.

By noon, some parents arrived to pick up their children after learning of the incident. One parent stated they would await the official investigation results before deciding whether to keep their child enrolled at the school.
