Police raid large-scale karaoke bar in Hanoi, 18 arrested

Police raided Monaza karaoke bar on Tran Duy Hung street, seizing 83 N2O laughing gas cylinders and bringing 169 individuals to headquarters.

On 1/12, the Hanoi Police Criminal Investigation Department announced they have temporarily detained 18 individuals. These individuals are under investigation for trading prohibited goods, organizing illegal drug use, and gambling. Among those detained are Ho Anh Tuan, known as Tuan 'Gom' and the bar's owner, along with managers Mai Thi Phuong, Nguyen Thi Thanh, and Nguyen Dinh Huy.

In the early morning of 18/11, police simultaneously raided the Monaza karaoke bar at 194 Tran Duy Hung street, Yen Hoa ward. They found 11 active karaoke rooms, with four containing customers using laughing gas.

Quick test results revealed one female staff member and four customers tested positive for drugs. Police seized 83 N2O laughing gas cylinders and brought 140 staff members and 29 customers to their headquarters.

Authorities initially determined the bar was involved in a large-scale illegal trade of "laughing gas".
