On 8/5, the Da Nang City Police Criminal Investigation Department announced the temporary detention of Vo Van Tai (residing in Xuan Phu commune) for investigation into property robbery and property theft.

According to the investigation, at about 6 am on 4/5, Tai stole an SH Mode scooter from a resident in Dien Ban ward. Unable to sell it due to a lack of papers, he continued riding the scooter through several areas seeking opportunities to commit crimes.

At 9 am, passing a household in Thu Bon commune, Tai noticed a Redmi C12 phone on a table. He snuck in, stole it, then continued to Go Noi commune.

There, he spotted a 64-year-old woman wearing a gold necklace. Tai entered a shop, pretending to inquire about buying ornamental plants to get closer. Waiting for the victim to be distracted, he suddenly hit her, snatched the necklace, and sped away.

After the crime, Tai sold the necklace pendant to a gold shop in Xuan Phu commune for 6.7 million dong. To erase evidence, he drove the stolen SH scooter to the An Phu bridge area and threw it into the river.

Following the incident, Tai hid in an internet cafe and sold the Redmi C12 phone to an unidentified young man for 800,000 dong.

Upon receiving the report, the Da Nang City Police Criminal Investigation Department coordinated with local police to conduct a swift pursuit. Using professional measures, detectives located and arrested Tai while he was playing video games.

Police recovered the gold necklace pendant and retrieved the SH Mode scooter from the river to aid the investigation.
