The investigative security agency of Tuyen Quang Provincial Police implemented the procedural decision this afternoon. Hang, along with six other individuals, was indicted for abusing positions and powers while on duty, under Article 356 of the Penal Code.

This brings the total number of defendants to 26 in connection with the case at the Tuyen Quang high school for the gifted exam center during the 2026 high school graduation exam.

The irregularities were first noticed when 146 of 328 test-takers at Tuyen Quang high school for the gifted achieved perfect scores of 10 in the math exam. A staggering 299 students scored 9 or higher, resulting in an average score of 9,58 for the group, the highest nationwide.

On 14/7, police initially indicted 19 people for abusing positions and powers while on duty. Among them was Tran Thi Thu Hang, vice principal of Nguyen Van Huyen high school, who, as head of the exam center, allegedly directed supervisors to facilitate test-takers during the math exam. Subsequently, Nguyen Ha Duy, a math teacher at Tuyen Quang high school for the gifted, reportedly "entered the exam room and directly guided" some test-takers.

Nguyen Thi Hang assumed her role as principal of Tuyen Quang high school for the gifted in late 2023. Before this, she served as head of the general education department at the former Tuyen Quang Department of Education and Training.

The Tuyen Quang Department of Education and Training proposed a retake of the math exam for 322 students from Tuyen Quang high school for the gifted and six independent candidates at this exam center. However, the Ministry of Education and Training has not yet approved this, stating the need for further verification results from functional agencies to fully assess the incident's impact. Until a conclusion is reached, students at the school can still register for university admissions as planned. If students are found to have violated regulations, the Ministry will handle the matter according to regulations, commensurate with the nature and severity of the violation.
