Real estate agents falsify social housing applications for clients

Seeing clients were ineligible, a group of real estate agents accepted fees of 5 to 7 million VND per application to falsify social housing documents for the Thong Nhat Smart City project.

On 17/3, the Bac Ninh Provincial Police announced that the Investigation Police Agency Office initiated legal proceedings and temporarily detained Nguyen Thi Nhung, 33, Director of Tan Hai Anh Trading, Services, Investment and Construction Co. Ltd.; Tran Quang Bao, 39; Bui Minh Yen, Duong Thi Quyen, and Nguyen Thi Dieu Thao, all 37. They are under investigation for falsifying documents of agencies and organizations.

Except for Nhung, the other defendants are real estate agents.

According to the police, the Thong Nhat Smart City social housing project, located in Yen Trung and Tam Da communes, is developed by Thong Nhat Trading and Investment Development Joint Stock Company. This project sells social housing to eligible buyers.

During the process of brokering apartments at this project, the defendants, upon encountering ineligible clients, suggested "processing documents." They charged 4 to 7 million VND per application for this service.

Subsequently, this group of defendants directly drafted fake documents, such as confirmations of eligibility, income conditions, and salary confirmation applications. They also colluded to falsify documents to help ineligible clients appear eligible for social housing.

A report by the Ministry of Construction indicates that 737 social housing projects are underway nationwide, totaling over 701,000 units. This represents about 70% of the target for the 1 million unit development plan. In February alone, localities commenced an additional 28 projects, comprising approximately 20,000 apartments.
