On 27/9, Nong Hong Quang, residing in Ia Dal commune, was detained by the Quang Ngai Provincial Police Investigation Agency for investigation into murder.

According to initial investigation, the incident occurred around 9 PM on 23/9. Quang, 39, returned home after drinking with friends and began arguing with his 70-year-old father, Nong Van Thin.

Quang reportedly became enraged, accusing his father of not cleaning the house. He then called his sister, asking her and his brother to take Mr. Thin to live with them. When no relatives arrived, Quang's anger escalated, leading him to plan setting the house on fire.

He retrieved a gasoline can containing over 20 liters, placed it on a wooden chest near his father's bed, opened the lid, and poured the fuel onto the floor. The gasoline quickly spread, covering the area around Mr. Thin's bed and the exit to the back kitchen.

Quang then ignited the spilled gasoline and fled the scene. The flames rapidly engulfed the house. Neighbors, alerted by the fire, rushed to extinguish it and discovered Mr. Thin deceased in his bed.

At the police station, the 39-year-old son admitted to burning his father.
