Stepfather detained for allegedly beating three-year-old stepson, causing concussion

Nguyen Huu Nam, 33, is accused of assaulting his wife's three-year-old son, leading to the child's hospitalization with multiple bruises and a concussion.

Nguyen Huu Nam was criminally detained by Gia Lai Provincial Police on 29/7, facing an investigation into intentional injury.

Initial findings indicate Nam, 33, married Minh Thuy, 20, and they reside in Thang Hung Dong village, Bau Can commune. Thuy has a three-year-old son from a previous relationship.

Three nights ago, while Thuy was out on a delivery, Nam was home drinking and looking after the child. When the boy cried continuously for his mother, Nam allegedly slapped him multiple times in the face and choked him.

Upon returning, Thuy discovered numerous injuries on her son's face and neck. At Gia Lai Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, doctors diagnosed the child with soft tissue injuries, multiple bruises, and scratches on his face. He also exhibited nausea and vomiting, consistent with a concussion.

An X-ray revealed no skull fractures. The child's condition is now stable, and he is conscious.

During questioning by investigators, Nam admitted to assaulting his wife's stepson.
