"Initial findings indicate the crime stemmed from emotional conflict and jealousy during Thai's relationship with the victim," the investigating agency stated.

Police reported that within just 3 hours of identifying the victim, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Criminal Investigation Agency identified and arrested Thach Kim Thai, 48.

At the police station, Thai confessed to the crime, citing emotional conflict and jealousy from his relationship with the victim.

On 3/7, Le Minh Phuong, 40, a sanitation worker for Saigon Garment Company 3, discovered a green sack amidst water hyacinths while cleaning an embankment behind the facility. Upon inspection, he found dismembered remains, including a missing head and other separated body parts, prompting him to alert the police.

Authorities initially identified the victim as a female, estimated to be 40-50 years old, approximately 1,6 meters tall, and of average build. She likely had long dark brown hair, pink fingernails and toenails, and no tattoos. She was found wearing a sleeveless t-shirt, underwear, and black shorts.

Initial forensic examinations indicated the victim had died more than 4 days before the body was discovered.

Alongside the investigation, Ho Chi Minh City Police launched a public appeal, urging residents to provide information and report any crimes. Valuable tips from the community significantly aided investigators in identifying the victim as a 45-year-old woman from the former Binh Duong province.
