Earlier, police conducted simultaneous raids across multiple locations in Dak Lak, Dong Nai, and TP HCM. These operations resulted in the arrest of 25 individuals and the seizure of thousands of pages of betting-related data.
The investigation revealed that Quoc, Toan, and Phu contacted individuals of unknown identity to obtain master betting accounts. They subsequently divided these into dozens of sub-accounts, which were then distributed to participants.
To evade law enforcement, the group employed several tactics: using unregistered SIM cards, high-security messaging applications with auto-delete features, routinely clearing access data, minimizing direct meetings, and utilizing multiple bank accounts to manage winnings and losses.
Preliminary police findings indicate that since the beginning of the 2026 World Cup season, the three betting rings facilitated transactions amounting to nearly 200 billion VND.
The case remains under expanded investigation.
