On 5/5, Nhut, 20; Nguyen Quoc Chinh, 22; and Le Phu Thanh, 19, were temporarily detained by Tam Thang Ward Police for investigation into public disorder.

The incident occurred four days prior. A 20-year-old man riding a motorcycle on Le Loi Street, heading from Bai Truoc towards Nguyen An Ninh Street, was overtaken by another motorcycle. The passenger on that bike then struck the victim's head with a helmet, causing him to lose control and fall. A dashcam from a car recorded this attack. Tam Thang Ward Police investigated the case, summoning Nhut, Chinh, and Thanh. Findings indicate that Nhut, driven by personal conflict with the victim, recruited the other two to retaliate.

After spotting the victim leaving his workplace, the three followed him. Chinh drove their motorcycle close, allowing Nhut, riding pillion, to strike the victim with a helmet. Simultaneously, Chinh kicked the victim's bike, causing him to fall. The group then pursued and attacked the victim again while he was moving, before fleeing the scene.
