TikToker Pham Tuan investigated in Bitcoin Defi scam ring

TikToker Pham Tuan is under investigation for alleged fraud connected to a Bitcoin Defi cryptocurrency scam.

The Hanoi Police Investigation Agency recently issued a public appeal for victims involved in two cases: "Illegally Obtaining or Using Computer Network and Telecommunication Information," initiated on 18/8, and a "Property Appropriation Fraud" case from 2021. These incidents span Hanoi and several other localities.

Initial police investigations revealed that around 2021, Duong Nguyen Hung (51), Nguyen Tien Chien (44), Dinh Bat Hung (44), and Tran Tu Anh (36) conspired to create, manage, and operate the Bitcoin Defi cryptocurrency. These 4 suspects, along with Pham Tuan and Mai The Tung (44), organized promotional events to attract investors to Bitcoin Defi, ultimately appropriating their funds.

Police are urging anyone whose money was appropriated through these fraudulent methods to contact the Criminal Police Department at 62 Nguyen Van Huyen, Nghia Do ward, Hanoi, to assist with the investigation.

This investigation follows Pham Tuan's prior indictment on 22/8. He and 9 others were charged by the Hanoi Police Investigation Agency with illegally obtaining or using computer network and telecommunication information, under Article 288 of the Penal Code.

Tuan and his accomplices are accused of using the YouTube channel "Pham Tuan Entertainment" to regularly upload videos depicting gang activities, gangster-like behavior, and school violence, featuring images of knives, swords, and guns used to resolve conflicts. The group also used images of a high school in Bac Ninh province without authorization, associating them with the narrative of "a school prone to violence."

Pham Tuan, 25, from Bac Ninh province, is known as a "close associate" of Kha Banh. Tuan gained notoriety by opening "Pham Tuan Entertainment," a company specializing in teaching young people how to earn money through social media platforms. His TikTok account boasts over 2,6 million followers, his Facebook account has over 340,000, and his YouTube channel has over 1 million subscribers.

Beyond Tuan, numerous other TikTokers and "internet gangsters" have recently been arrested for various offenses, including the couples Huan Hoa Hong and Phu Le, Hai Sapa TV, Vua Quat, Khanh Sky, Ho Van Khoa, "Te Dien," and "Co giao Huong."
