On 16/9, the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of Ha Tinh Provincial Police announced a 15 million VND administrative fine against a 45-year-old man. The penalty was imposed for providing and sharing false information.

The man's offense occurred on 15/9, when he downloaded a live video from another Facebook account. This original video depicted rain and localized flooding at homes and schools in Song Tri ward, previously part of Ky Anh town. He then manipulated the footage and posted it on his personal page.

His post included a caption falsely stating: "Song Tri ward - Ha Tinh: Dike broken, schools and homes submerged in water." This content quickly garnered interactions and comments, with many users expressing worry about the reported flood situation.

Authorities quickly determined the information to be false. During questioning, the man admitted to posting the unverified content. He stated his intention was to attract views and engagement, hoping to earn money from Facebook.

The man complied with the penalty, deactivated his violating account, and committed not to re-offend.

Over the past two days, Ha Tinh province experienced rain, leading to some localized flooding in parts of Song Tri ward. However, no widespread severe flooding or isolated residential areas were reported. Water levels have since receded, and local authorities are monitoring developments.
