The investigation began in late 2025 when the Security Investigation Department, through monitoring express delivery units, discovered Dinh illegally possessing weapons. When summoned for questioning, he admitted to the offense and surrendered one pneumatic air rifle along with 456 rounds of ammunition.
Expanding the investigation, police subsequently summoned Cao Van Thuan, also a local resident, and seized another similar gun along with 72 rounds of ammunition.
According to forensic examination results, both guns were classified as military weapons. The two suspects admitted to purchasing the weapons for hunting birds and animals.
Lam Dong police emphasized that the possession and use of homemade guns, hunting rifles, and ammunition not only violates the law but also poses risks to security and public order, threatening the lives and property of citizens. The authorities urged individuals still possessing such weapons and ammunition to voluntarily surrender them to the police or local authorities, assuring that those who comply will not face criminal charges.
