On 23/3, the Ho Chi Minh City Police's Immigration Management Department announced that it had coordinated with professional units to receive 34 Vietnamese citizens handed over by the US in accordance with regulations. All of them have registered residences in Ho Chi Minh City and were deported for violating local laws or not meeting permanent residency requirements.
The reception process adhered to regulations, ensuring the rights of the citizens. Authorities verified their identities, provided initial support, and then transferred them to their local communities and families to stabilize their lives.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Police's Immigration Management Department, recently, the situation of Vietnamese citizens being deported and repatriated has become more complex and increased, primarily from countries such as: the US, Cambodia, Canada.
Statistics show that in the first three months of 2026, the Immigration Department (Ministry of Public Security) reported 138 cases. Among these, the US accounted for the most with 77 individuals, followed by Cambodia with 58 individuals and Canada with 4 individuals.
Authorities noted that when working or studying abroad, people need to comply with the laws of the host country. Illegal residency or employment can lead to arrest, penalties, or deportation.
