On 15/5, the Ministry of Public Security announced that the Investigation Police Agency (Department of Investigation Police for Corruption, Economic, and Smuggling Crimes) initiated legal proceedings in 5 criminal cases related to copyright and related rights infringement, as defined under Article 225 of the Penal Code.
According to the Ministry of Public Security, this investigation follows the Prime Minister's Official Telegram 38, which calls for increased efforts to combat and prevent intellectual property rights infringements. Through professional measures, investigators identified signs of violations at several related businesses and units.
Specifically, in a case involving Bihaco Trading and Media Services Joint Stock Company (BH Media), the investigation agency has prosecuted Nguyen Hai Binh, the general director of BH Media company.
After receiving approval from the Supreme People's Procuracy, the investigation agency executed the procedural decisions and warrants in accordance with legal regulations.
In addition to Nguyen Hai Binh, the Ministry of Public Security also prosecuted other individuals: Vo Van Nam, director of Lululola Entertainment Company Limited; Nguyen Minh Duc, owner of Doi Mat Troi business household, and Ngo Thanh Tung, owner of Thong Zeo business household, in a case linked to the 1900 Group; Vo Hoang Viet and Nguyen Trung Truong Huy, directors of May Sai Gon Company Limited; and Diep Van Lap, owner of Giong Ca De Doi Center.
The Investigation Police Agency of the Ministry of Public Security is expanding its investigation to clarify the actions of the accused individuals and those involved. Concurrently, it is verifying assets for recovery as stipulated by law.
The Department of Investigation Police for Corruption, Economic, and Smuggling Crimes urges all organizations and individuals involved in intellectual property, copyright, and related rights infringements to proactively cease their wrongdoings, remedy the consequences, and cooperate with authorities to be considered for lenient policies.
