On 8/9, Nguyen, 55 years old, was fined 3.5 million VND by the Phong Thanh communal police for intentionally reporting false information to authorized agencies, under Decree 282/2025.
Previously, on 19/8, Nguyen reported that intruders had broken into her house, taking 15 million VND along with various 24K and 18K gold jewelry, including rings, necklaces, bracelets, and bead chains.
The Phong Thanh communal police, in coordination with the Criminal Police Department and the Vinh Long Provincial Police's Criminal Technical Department, examined the scene. They found no signs of forced entry, while some details at the house appeared staged.
During questioning by the police, Nguyen admitted she had sold gold to give money to her child from a previous marriage. Fearing her husband would find out, she staged a fake crime scene and reported the property loss.
Vinh Long Provincial Police advised residents to provide honest information about crimes, stating that intentionally reporting false information will be handled according to regulations.
