Tri An Commune Police are investigating a petrol bomb attack that targeted a home in Vinh Tan 5, forcing a family of six to flee. The incident, reported by resident Tran Thi Yen, occurred approximately one month before her younger brother was assaulted by a local youth on the street. Yen believes the attack stemmed from this ongoing conflict.
The petrol bomb incident, which took place on 13/4, involved six people inside the house: Yen's elderly mother, Yen and her husband, and their three young children.
Security camera footage from around 23h on 13/4 captured the attack. Four youths, riding two motorbikes and wearing long-sleeved shirts and masks, stopped in front of Yen's gate. After observing the surroundings, they repeatedly threw petrol bombs onto the house's porch. The group then left after about one minute. Before fleeing, one individual used a machete to repeatedly strike the gate.
The attack caused one motorbike parked in front of the house to catch fire and shattered a glass door. Residents inside discovered the fire promptly and extinguished it, preventing any casualties.
According to Yen, the incident stemmed from a conflict between her younger brother and the youth who wielded the machete at the gate. 'This person repeatedly provoked my brother to fight. My brother was scared, so he even locked his social media, and then the incident happened', she stated.
