“It’s never too late to find love,” said Rosenblatt, a retired aerospace scientist living in Battery Park City, Manhattan.
He hired a matchmaker, Brigitte Weil, to help him find his “final love”. Despite meeting several women in their 70s and 80s, Rosenblatt has not felt a connection with anyone. “They didn’t evoke any special feelings in me,” he stated.
His story surprised Weil. “Initially, I thought this was almost an impossible task. But after meeting him in person, I realized he isn’t old yet,” she commented.

Rosenblatt participated in NASA’s Apollo Space Program, holds 14 patents, and invented several devices for microsurgery. At 96, he continues to research new ideas and recently completed his autobiography.
City College of New York, his alma mater, is expected to award him the Presidential Medal this fall. Previous recipients include Nelson Mandela, Coretta Scott King, Colin Powell, and Hillary Clinton.
When asked about his ideal partner, he described a woman who is pleasant-looking and has some scientific understanding. Above all, she must be warm, kind, and empathetic.
According to Weil, many women introduced to him wish to continue meeting, but they primarily seek companionship for activities like going to movies, visiting museums, or enjoying art programs.
“They want companionship, but not a truly romantic relationship,” Rosenblatt explained. He, however, seeks more than just friendship.
“Sol didn’t hire me to find him a girlfriend. He wants a serious romantic relationship that could lead to cohabitation,” Weil noted.
Currently, he resides in a retirement home. If he finds the right person, he plans to buy an apartment in Battery Park City for them to live together and stroll around the neighborhood.
Despite his search, he affirms that no one can replace his wife of 69 years.
“She was a concert pianist, spoke five languages, and was loved by many. I will never find anyone to replace her,” he shared.
He has three children and did not consult them before embarking on his search for a new partner. “I don’t need to ask. My children always support my decisions,” he added.
