AI technology in smart air conditioners promotes better sleep

LG's smart air conditioner models integrate mechanisms that adjust temperature according to sleep cycles, balance humidity, and maintain low noise levels to help users achieve deeper sleep.

According to LG's research team, the human body constantly changes throughout the night. Minor factors such as direct cold drafts, excessively dry air, or abnormal temperature fluctuations cause "micro-awakenings." These are brief awakenings people do not recall, disrupting the brain's deep sleep cycle. The stability of the surrounding environment determines both sufficient and deep sleep.

Soft Air feature creates gentle airflow

For sensitive individuals, direct airflow can cause discomfort and awakenings. LG DualCool AI addresses this with its dual vane design and Soft Air feature, which distributes air throughout the sleeping space without blowing directly onto the body, maintaining a comfortable coolness.

This feature also ensures a quiet sleep environment. According to the developer, the noise level in Soft Air mode ranges from 38-39 dB, which is quieter than the sleep mode of some air purifiers. Even during high-intensity cooling, the device maintains a noise level of only about 45 dB at the highest fan speed (level 5) and around 50 dB when the jet mode is activated.

Applying biorhythms to balance temperature

Physiological experts state that for individuals to enter deep sleep, core body temperature must naturally decrease by one to two degrees Celsius. Maintaining a fixed temperature on an air conditioner throughout the night counters this natural mechanism. As room temperature drops towards dawn, muscles automatically contract to conserve heat, leading to restlessness and easy awakenings.

LG air conditioners feature the Sleep Timer+ function, which automatically recognizes usage patterns and adjusts the temperature to balance the ambient temperature with the user's body temperature, preventing a chilling sensation during the night. Users can set this feature via the LG ThinQ smart app.

Air filtration and humidity balance

Scientific studies indicate that environments with high levels of fine dust or bacteria force the respiratory system to work harder instead of resting, reducing the body's energy recovery efficiency. The PM2.5 filter, combined with Plasmaster Ionizer++ technology in LG DualCool AI, eliminates up to 99.9% of bacteria, ensuring cleaner air.

Additionally, an automatic internal cleaning mode dries the heat exchanger after use to eliminate damp odors and prevent bacterial growth. The freeze cleaning mode further cleans the indoor unit, washing away dust, bacteria, and pollutants.

Beyond purification, the product features a smart sensor that actively monitors and maintains room humidity between 60% and 65%, adhering to National Standard TCVN 5687:2024 for ventilation and air conditioning. This resolves common issues like dry skin and sore throats, which result from dry air drawing natural moisture from the epidermis and mucous membranes.
