Garmin plants 1,000 trees at Nui Ong Nature Reserve

Garmin expands its journey of connecting people with the environment through a program to plant and nurture 1,000 native trees at Nui Ong Nature Reserve on 20/7.

This initiative, implemented in Lam Dong in collaboration with Joy Foundation, aligns with Garmin's vision to foster a lifestyle where personal health advancement is paired with environmental responsibility.

With over 560,000 users in Vietnam and a growing community ecosystem including Garmin Run Club, Garmin Trail Club, and Garmin Cycling Club, the brand connects individuals who share a passion for movement, spreading a spirit of healthy living linked to responsibility.

According to Garmin, every run, every bike ride, or every trekking journey becomes more meaningful when trails, forests, and natural spaces are preserved.

Joy Foundation, an organization dedicated to forest restoration and biodiversity conservation, partnered with Garmin for this program. With its expertise in selecting native tree species, planting techniques, and long-term care plans, Joy Foundation helps ensure the activity contributes to sustainable ecosystem restoration goals.

Nui Ong Nature Reserve was chosen for its biodiversity value and its role as one of Vietnam's important special-use forests. The program focused on planting two native tree species, Sao Den and Dau Rai, which are suitable for the area's natural conditions and play a crucial role in long-term forest recovery.

The activity saw participation from representatives of Garmin Vietnam, Joy Foundation, Garmin Run Club, Tailwind Adventure Community, and many running, trekking, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Ivan Lai, Garmin Vietnam Regional Director, stated that the joint effort from sports communities demonstrates that environmental responsibility is not solely an organizational duty, but can also originate from individuals who regularly enjoy the benefits nature provides.

"We believe a healthy community can only thrive on the foundation of a healthy environment – where they are active daily. We aim to inspire every outdoor experience to contribute to preserving natural spaces for tomorrow", Ivan added.

The company also noted that building a healthy community involves encouraging active living and conquering new limits, alongside cultivating a positive culture. In this culture, individuals invest in their health while collectively protecting the environment and preserving spaces that inspire an active lifestyle.

This philosophy is also realized through Garmin's ecosystem in Vietnam. The company organizes the annual Garmin Run race series, the Garmin Run Club (GRC) with over 16,800 online members, as well as trail and trekking activities, and collaborations with Oxalis Adventure and other partners in the outdoor sports sector.
