Ho Chi Minh City parents line up for children's Kun Marathon race kits

Hundreds of parents gathered at Thao Cam Vien early in the morning to collect Kun Marathon bibs, eager for a series of interactive activities focused on protecting various species.

Kun Marathon Ho Chi Minh City distributed race kits on the morning of 20/3 at Thao Cam Vien. From 7h30, lines of people streamed into the area. This year, the event's scale increased to 2,500 runners, leading to an expanded distribution area with more lanes for parents to conveniently collect bibs.

Parents moved into lanes corresponding to their children's birth years. Children born between 2016-2020 were eligible to participate. The process of scanning QR codes to verify information and receive items took about one minute.

The organizing committee mobilized over 20 volunteers to help parents verify information and hand out race kit bags.

In addition to the usual one-kilometer race, Kun Marathon Ho Chi Minh City this year included a series of "protecting all species" activities, in collaboration with Thao Cam Vien (Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden). Many parents praised the event's integration of educational messages. Allowing children to interact and learn about the natural world and animals at Thao Cam Vien helps them develop awareness about animal and habitat protection.

Ms. Huynh Anh Thi, from An Khanh ward, collected dozens of bibs for her 9-year-old son and friends' children. "The event is free but limited in number, so demand is very high," Ms. Thi stated. "With the added activities about learning about animals at Thao Cam Vien, the children are really looking forward to it."

By noon, the bib distribution area remained bustling as hundreds of parents used their break time to complete the procedures for their children.

A child was excited when brought by a parent to Thao Cam Vien to receive a race kit.

Parents took souvenir photos next to the board listing the 2,500 child runners participating in the event.

Kun Marathon Ho Chi Minh City is scheduled to start at 6h30 on 21/3. The one-kilometer course features many challenges to encourage physical activity. Upon completing the distance, children will interact with artists Truong Giang and Boi Boi. Additionally, Kun Marathon will contribute 200 million VND to Thao Cam Vien for cage renovation and animal care.
