14 fire trucks battle house blaze in alley for 2 hours

A house fire spanning approximately 100 square meters, located deep within an alley less than one meter wide in Da Nang, forced firefighters to extend hoses from a distance, deploy 14 vehicles, and spend nearly two hours to extinguish the flames.

Around 8:10 AM on 22/12, residents spotted smoke and flames rising from a three-story house, topped with a prefabricated corrugated iron roof on a steel frame, located at alley 2, kiet 3, Ha Thi Than Street, An Hai Ward. This densely populated area sits near Dragon Bridge, which spans the Han River.

A man living next to the house attempted to douse the fire with buckets of water but could not control the blaze. Security personnel from the heritage site in front of the burning house alerted the fire department.

Da Nang Public Security dispatched seven units with 14 fire trucks and numerous officers and soldiers to the scene. However, due to the alley's extreme narrowness, fire trucks could not directly access the burning house.

The alley in front of the burning house was just over one meter wide, making it difficult to access the fire. *Nguyen Dong*

Firefighters had to park their vehicles on Ha Thi Than Street, extending dozens of meters of hoses into the alley. They also climbed onto the corrugated iron roofs of surrounding homes to spray water from multiple directions. Adjacent houses were cooled with water to prevent the fire from spreading.

According to authorities, the third floor and the prefabricated roof area contained many flammable materials, such as picture frames and foam boxes. When ignited, the blaze intensified rapidly, sending thick black smoke dozens of meters high, engulfing the residential area and forcing many households to evacuate to avoid smoke inhalation.

Firefighters took nearly two hours to bring the approximately 100-square-meter blaze under control. *Nguyen Dong*

During the firefighting operation, the intense heat caused tempered glass in some adjacent houses to shatter, posing a danger to the personnel on duty.

By approximately 10 AM, the fire was largely contained. The incident resulted in no casualties, but significant property inside the house was destroyed. Authorities are currently investigating the cause.
