14th congress conducts personnel work

On the morning of 22/1, the 14th national congress of the Party began its fourth working day, undertaking personnel work to elect the new central committee.

A key item on today's agenda is personnel work, including the election of the 14th Party Central Committee.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man arrived at the 14th Party Congress.

The 14th Party Central Committee is expected to comprise 200 members, including 180 official members and 20 alternate members.

At an international press conference on 14/1, Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu stated that the personnel preparation for the 14th Central Committee was carried out by the 13th Central Committee and the 14th Congress Personnel Subcommittee. This process followed Party regulations, democratic centralism principles, legal provisions, and ensured it was "scientific, rigorous, democratic, objective, transparent, promoting democracy and intellect."

According to the Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat, the 14th term personnel ensure a balance between standards and structure, inheritance and stability, innovation and development, expertise and creativity, and practical capabilities. The personnel work also emphasizes the quality and effectiveness of work products and dedication as key metrics for evaluating, assigning, and utilizing cadres.

Yesterday afternoon, the 14th Party Congress approved an adjusted schedule, shortening the event by 1.5 days from the original plan. Consequently, the 14th Party Congress will conclude on 23/1.

In addition to electing the new Central Committee, the 14th Party Congress will approve four important documents: the Political Report; the Report summarizing theoretical and practical issues over 40 years of Doi Moi; the Report summarizing 15 years of implementing the Party Charter; and the Report reviewing the leadership and direction of the 13th Central Committee.
