According to Saigon Water Corporation (Sawaco), the Tan Hiep Water Plant will temporarily cease pumping to replace a sluice valve at the outlet of storage tank 6A1 and the M2 water channel.
During this maintenance period, Tan Hiep Water Plant 2 will supplement the network with supply from the Kenh Dong Water Plant. However, the anticipated water shortfall is equivalent to 40-50% of normal consumption needs during the aforementioned period, which will lead to localized low water pressure in many areas.
The affected areas include:
- Four communes in Hoc Mon district: Hoc Mon, Dong Thanh, Ba Diem, Xuan Thoi Son.
- Seven wards in District 12 and Go Vap: Tan Thoi Hiep, Dong Hung Thuan, Trung My Tay, Thoi An, An Hoi Tay, An Hoi Dong, Thong Tay Hoi.
- Eight wards in Tan Binh and Tan Phu districts: Tay Thanh, Tan Son Nhi, Phu Tho Hoa, Tan Phu, Tan Son, Tan Binh, Tan Son Nhat, Bay Hien.
- Eleven wards in District 6, District 8, and Binh Tan: Binh Hung Hoa, Binh Tri Dong, Binh Tan, Tan Tao, An Lac, Binh Tay, Phu Lam, Binh Phu, Chanh Hung, Phu Dinh, Binh Dong.
- Seven communes in Binh Chanh district: Vinh Loc, Tan Vinh Loc, Binh Loi, Tan Nhut, Binh Hung, Binh Chanh, Hung Long.
The maintenance is expected to conclude at 6 a.m. on 22/8, but water supply in areas at the end of the network may recover more slowly. Sawaco has instructed its units to regulate the network, monitor pressure and flow, and prepare water tankers for supply if necessary.
Residents, agencies, schools, and hospitals in the affected areas are advised to proactively store clean water.
