The Saigon Water Supply Corporation (Sawaco) announced that the Tan Hiep Water Plant, located in Hoc Mon district, will temporarily cease operations for 8 hours. This shutdown is for essential maintenance and to address a network leak. The interruption will affect the water supply for 27 wards and 11 communes throughout the city.
Specifically, two communes, Tan Nhut and Binh Chanh, will experience a complete water supply disruption during this period.
Six wards face the risk of localized water loss: Binh Tri Dong and Binh Hung Hoa (in the former Binh Tan district); Phu Tho Hoa, Tay Thanh, Tan Son Nhi, and Phu Thanh (in the former Tan Phu district). The affected areas are primarily situated along the Binh Long - Phan Anh road and the Tay Thanh - Le Trong Tan - Bo Bao Tan Thang - Tan Ky Tan Quy - Tan Quy - Tan Huong axis.

Beyond the risk of localized water loss, many areas within these six wards, along with 21 other wards, may experience low water pressure. These include wards in the former Binh Tan district: Binh Tan, Tan Tao, An Lac; the former District 6: Phu Lam, Binh Phu, Binh Tay; the former District 8: Phu Dinh, Binh Dong, Chanh Hung; and the former District 12: Tan Thoi Hiep, Dong Hung Thuan, Trung My Tay, Thoi An.
Additional wards at risk of low water pressure are An Hoi Tay, An Hoi Dong, Thong Tay Hoi (in the former Go Vap district); Tan Phu (in the former Tan Phu district); Tan Son, Tan Binh, Tan Son Nhat, and Bay Hien (in the former Tan Binh district).
Low water pressure is also anticipated in nine communes: Vinh Loc, Tan Vinh Loc, Binh Loi, Binh Hung, Hung Long (in the former Binh Chanh district); and Hoc Mon, Dong Thanh, Ba Diem, and Xuan Thoi Son (in the former Hoc Mon district).
Sawaco stated that following the completion of maintenance, some areas distant from the water source might experience a slower-than-expected restoration of supply. The corporation will regulate the network and deploy water tankers to critical locations to minimize disruption to residents' daily lives.
The Tan Hiep Water Plant began operations in 2016, with a total investment exceeding 1,200 billion VND and a capacity of 300,000 cubic meters per day. The plant utilizes Saigon River water, drawn from the Hoa Phu pumping station, and is a crucial source of clean water for Ho Chi Minh City.
