An Giang Provincial Party Committee's Standing Committee issued a directive to accelerate projects for APEC 2027. The committee noted that preparation time is limited, and progress on some projects remains inconsistent, facing multi-sectoral and multi-level challenges.

The province mandates a "green lane" mechanism for all documents, paperwork, procedures, and new issues related to APEC projects. Tasks designated as special priorities must be received and processed within one working day.

This mechanism applies only to projects authorized by competent authorities, without independent expansion or application. It also requires transparency and measures to prevent corruption, waste, and special interest groups.

The directive emphasizes, "Administrative procedures must not delay projects. The accountability of leaders must be clearly defined, and any delays caused by subjective reasons will result in disciplinary action."

Phu Quoc is required to complete all compensation, support, resettlement, and land handover operations on schedule. This process must ensure the stable lives, livelihoods, and legal rights of residents whose land is acquired.

Alongside accelerating progress, authorities must promptly detect, warn against, and address any violations during implementation.

Phu Quoc is currently implementing 21 key projects for APEC 2027, comprising 10 public investment projects and 11 projects utilizing public-private partnership (PPP) and business investment models. Major infrastructure includes: the expansion of Phu Quoc International Airport, the APEC convention center, APEC boulevard, provincial road 975, and an urban tram line connecting the airport to the convention center.

The list of projects also includes: reservoirs, the Cua Can and Duong Dong 2 water supply plants, waste and wastewater treatment facilities, undergrounding infrastructure in An Thoi and Duong Dong, a smart operation center, resettlement areas, and two urban areas: Bai Dat Do and Nui Ong Quan.
