The incident occurred around 7 p.m. when the truck, traveling from Hanoi towards Ninh Binh, caught fire at kilometer marker 214 on the expressway. According to witnesses, flames originated from the vehicle's rear, quickly igniting the tarp covering and spreading rapidly. The driver promptly pulled the truck to the side of the road.

A passenger bus stopped, and individuals from the bus used handheld fire extinguishers to assist in putting out the blaze, but their efforts were unsuccessful. As the fire intensified, it engulfed the truck's cargo bay, causing numerous chicks to fall onto the road. This led to significant traffic congestion in the affected area.

Traffic Police Team No. 3 of the Traffic Police Department arrived at the scene to redirect traffic and coordinate with fire, rescue, and salvage police forces. The teams worked to manage the incident and clear the affected section of the expressway. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
