On the afternoon of 28/9, heavy rain combined with peak tides during rush hour caused deep flooding on many streets outside protected dike, embankment, and culvert areas, including Cach Mang Thang Tam, Le Hong Phong, Bui Huu Nghia, and Nguyen Van Cu. This resulted in many vehicles stalling and traffic chaos.

Residents and security forces directed traffic at the Nguyen Van Cu - Tran Viet Chau intersection to manage the disruption.

Traffic congestion extended along Nguyen Van Cu street as tidal flooding occurred. On the morning of 29/9, the peak tide on the Hau River reached 2,23 m, 6 cm higher than the previous day and approximately 23 cm above alarm level 3. This caused water to overflow into residential areas, with many places experiencing flooding for nearly two hours.

Sections of Cach Mang Thang Tam street were flooded 20-50 cm deep, causing numerous vehicles to stall due to the heavy rain coinciding with the peak tide. From 4:30 p.m., Hoang Huyen and several young people in Cai Khe Ward actively assisted by pushing vehicles through the deeply flooded areas.

Slow-moving traffic stretched along Cach Mang Thang Tam - Ton That Tung street. According to the Can Tho Hydro-Meteorological Center, the peak tide on the afternoon of 29/9 could reach 2,28 m, one cm higher than the historical level recorded in 2022. Water levels are expected to gradually decrease from 30/9, but will remain high.

Mr. Trieu Thanh Van, the Vice Principal, stated that the school utilized pushcarts and food trolleys to help parents transport students through the flooded sections. On days with high tides, the school start time was delayed until 8 a.m. to ensure students could arrive safely.
