Around 7h on 8/8, residents along the Saigon river, opposite the ICD Phuoc Long 3 port, heard an explosion from a barge in the middle of the waterway. Smoke and flames quickly engulfed the vessel, forcing three people to jump into the river.

Many people along the river who witnessed the incident immediately drove their motorboats to rescue the victims and bring them ashore. Tragically, one woman trapped on the barge died.

The Fire and Rescue Police Department (PCCC) and the Waterway Police, a unit of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police Department (CSGT TP HCM), swiftly mobilized various vehicles to the scene of the burning barge to extinguish the fire and recover the victim.
