Photo of a woman found in unidentified martyr's grave

A photo of a woman, along with a wallet, money, and personal items, was discovered in an unidentified martyr's grave at Tam Phuoc Martyrs Cemetery, Tay Ho commune.

Authorities discovered the artifacts on the afternoon of 7/8 while excavating grave number 292, row 6, at Tam Phuoc Martyrs Cemetery. The excavation aimed to collect biological samples for DNA testing from the grave, which has an identification code of 48-070-00258.

In addition to the photo, the search team collected a wallet, money, and other personal belongings. Authorities believe these items could provide additional evidence to review records, cross-reference data, identify the martyr, and locate their relatives.

Da Nang City Military Command urges veterans, comrades, relatives of martyrs, and the public to provide information if they recognize the woman in the photo or know the history of the grave. The contact person for information is Mr. Cao Van Long, Policy Board, Political Department, phone number 0963 053 252.

Tam Phuoc Martyrs Cemetery contains 981 graves, with 580 remaining unidentified. Specialized forces have excavated 279 graves and collected 229 biological samples for DNA testing as part of ongoing efforts.

This excavation is part of the 500-day and night campaign to search, collect, and identify the remains of martyrs across Da Nang. The city currently has 26,003 unidentified graves in 151 cemeteries, and 7,232 martyrs whose remains have not yet been found. DNA sample collection city-wide is expected to be completed in September.

Separately, on 6/8, the Martyr Remains Collection Team found three sets of remains in Triem Nam residential group, Dien Ban ward. These remains were accompanied by artifacts characteristic of special forces. To date, forces have collected nearly 40 sets of martyr remains in the area.
