Urban Railway Company No. 1 (HURC1) offers two ways for passengers to ride free on National Day: scan their citizen identification card or chip-embedded ID card at ticket gates or use a QR code generated on the HCMC Metro HURC app.
To obtain a QR code, passengers can download the app, select the "Independent QR" function, generate an electronic ticket, and scan it directly at station gates. Regular fares apply if passengers purchase tickets and no refunds will be issued.

HURC1 states that passengers can purchase metro tickets and pay through various methods, including cash payment at ticket vending machines (TVMs) to receive a scannable ticket.
Passengers can also pay directly at ticket gates using Mastercard, Visa, or Napas payment cards. They can also use mobile devices linked to their bank accounts for direct payment. Other options include using citizen identification cards, purchasing tickets at counters, using automated ticket kiosks, e-wallets, or the HCMC Metro HURC app.
To enhance convenience, HURC1 launched 44 automated paper ticket kiosks at all metro stations on 29/8. Passengers can also purchase single-journey tickets, day passes (one-day or three-day), and monthly passes on the MoMo app.
In addition to the free rides, the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro will extend its operating hours from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. and increase the number of trips to meet travel demands during the National Day holiday. On 1/9 and 2/9, the metro will operate 264 trips per day, an increase of more than 30 trips compared to the usual schedule.
As Ho Chi Minh City's first urban railway line, the nearly 20-km Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro connects the city center to the eastern gateway. Since its launch in late 2024, the metro has experienced high ridership.
Beyond the metro, Phuong Trang Bus Company will also offer free rides on all its bus routes in Ho Chi Minh City on 1/9 and 2/9. The company operates 75 bus routes in the city, nearly 50% of the total routes.
