Around 10:30 a.m., a passenger bus with a Binh Phuoc license plate was traveling on Pham Van Dong street, heading from the That Theater area towards downtown Nha Trang. As it neared Hon Chong, Bac Nha Trang ward, the vehicle emitted a bang, followed by black smoke rising from its undercarriage.
The driver immediately pulled the bus to the side of the road, opened the doors, and urged the approximately 40 passengers to exit the vehicle with their luggage. About two minutes later, intense flames erupted, quickly engulfing most of the bus body.

"After a bang that sounded like a tire exploding, I saw thick smoke billowing from the undercarriage. The driver kept calling for everyone to get out," said Thu Huyen, a resident of Bac Nha Trang ward.
The Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue Police Department of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police dispatched two specialized vehicles and dozens of officers to the scene. Firefighters approached from multiple directions, using hoses to spray water and extinguish the blaze.
About 10 minutes later, the fire was brought under control. The bus was gutted, with many windows shattered and some luggage scorched. No casualties were reported in the incident.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
