The incident occurred at a tube-style boarding house, approximately 100 square meters, on Nguyen Thi Thoi street, Tan Thoi Hiep ward. The house was home to 12 residents, mainly students and freelance workers.
When the fire erupted, Captain Kiet, who was on duty at the headquarters, immediately arrived at the scene. He observed that the ground floor exit was engulfed in smoke and fire due to several burning motorcycles. Demonstrating quick thinking, he climbed to the first floor, opening doors to search for trapped individuals. In the last room, where smoke was thick and temperatures were high, he discovered the baby. He quickly carried the child to the balcony, then climbed onto the roof, and ultimately brought the baby safely to the ground.
The fire tragically resulted in two deaths and 5 injuries, including the baby's parents, both 25 years old. After 10 days of treatment, both parents have passed the critical stage and are now recovering.
