Fire at Ho Chi Minh City coffee shop claims one life

A blaze erupted at a coffee shop in Tan Phu district, trapping and killing a woman on the morning of june 26.

Around 6 am, residents living near Parmano coffee shop, approximately 50 square meters, located on Nguyen Van Yen street, Phu Thanh ward, noticed thick smoke billowing from inside. They immediately shouted for help to extinguish the flames. The location is about one kilometer from Bon Xa Intersection. As the shop was not yet open at the time of the incident, many neighbors had to break down the door to enter.

Ms. Hoa, a resident near the scene, stated that thick smoke billowed up before flames erupted. Some broke the locks to get in, bringing nearly ten mini fire extinguishers to battle the fire for a few minutes.

Fire trucks along with ten firefighters arrived at the scene. When police checked the bedroom, they discovered Ms. Nguyen Thi Duyen, 43, the shop owner, had died from smoke inhalation.

According to residents, the victim had rented the house to sell coffee for over a year. The fire caused significant damage to furniture, tables, chairs, and electronic equipment inside.

The cause is currently under investigation.
