Elderly man in Hanoi fatally hit while crossing street

A 91-year-old man was fatally struck by a car while crossing Dao Tan street to exercise at Thu Le Park on the morning of 10/4.

Around 5:10 h, the elderly man, a resident of Giang Vo ward, was crossing Dao Tan street in front of the State Records and Archives Department. At the same time, a Mercedes car traveling towards Kim Ma struck him.

At the scene, the car involved in the accident stopped about 4 m from where the victim died. A pedestrian crossing was located behind the vehicle, and a pedestrian bridge was ahead. Giang Vo ward police are coordinating the scene investigation to determine the cause of the accident.

Dao Tan street, approximately 900 m long, connects the Lieu Giai - Kim Ma intersection to Buoi street. It is a bustling road with modern infrastructure. The street has two directions, each 20-25 m wide, accommodating two to three lanes of traffic.

On the same morning, another accident involving two cars occurred on Thang Long bridge, causing extensive traffic congestion. This incident resulted in no human casualties, but a car with a Hung Yen license plate sustained heavy damage.
