Fatal fire destroys six cars in Ninh Binh garage

A worker died and six cars were destroyed in a fire that engulfed a nearly 400-square-meter auto repair shop in Hoa Lu ward.

In the early morning of 20/8, a fire broke out at the Bao Trong auto repair garage at 298 Cat Linh Street, Hoa Lu ward, owned by 40-year-old Nguyen Minh Tuan. Residents noticed the fire after it had spread significantly. The doors were locked from the inside, so they alerted the fire department.

By the time firefighters arrived, flames and smoke were billowing tens of meters high, engulfing the garage. The owner reported someone was trapped inside, but their location was unknown.

After about 20 minutes of forcing entry and searching the garage, firefighters found the body of a 28-year-old painter from Hue city on the mezzanine.

The fire was brought under control around 3 a.m. However, the 380-square-meter workshop, with a 20-meter frontage, and containing valuable assets, including six cars, was destroyed.

Ninh Binh police are investigating the cause of the fire.
