At the announcement ceremony on 20/8, General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Minister of National Defense, stated that the establishment of the Artillery - Missile Command reflects a new mindset and vision in adjusting the organization of the military to strengthen national defense and protect the Fatherland.
According to General Cuong, the Artillery - Missile Command inherits the traditions of the heroic Artillery Corps, a force forged in the nation's resistance wars. This force is now organized to be refined, compact, strong, and modern, with a larger scale, function, and mission. It is equipped with various modern weapons and vehicles, enabling a wider strategic deployment.

To ensure successful mission completion, the Chief of the General Staff requested that the Artillery - Missile Command thoroughly grasp the resolutions and conclusions of higher levels regarding military and national defense matters. They should quickly stabilize the organization and personnel, consolidate the Party committees, Party organizations, command, and mass organizations within the newly established unit.
The command also needs to finalize operational plans and promote basic, synchronous, and specialized training, combining theory with practice and the transfer of combat experience. Officers and soldiers must thoroughly study the use of artillery and missiles in recent conflicts to apply to training and education.
General Nguyen Tan Cuong expressed confidence that with the nearly 80-year tradition of building, fighting, and maturing of the Artillery force, along with new opportunities and determination, the officers and soldiers of the Artillery - Missile Command will successfully complete all assigned tasks.
