Female driver reverses on Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway

A female driver reversed her car on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway after missing an exit, forcing several vehicles behind her to slow down to avoid a collision.

Speaking with police after the incident on the morning of 2/8, the 45-year-old woman from Khanh Hoa stated she intended to exit the expressway at Cho Lau junction in Hai Ninh commune. However, she admitted she was not paying attention and drove past the exit, so she reversed to quickly return.

According to Team 6 of the Expressway Traffic Police (Traffic Police Department), the car was reversing approximately 500 m south of the junction. After the car had reversed about 50 m, a patrolling task force discovered it and issued a citation.

For this violation, the female driver was fined 35 million VND and had 10 points deducted from her driver's license under Decree 168.

The Traffic Police warn that reversing on an expressway is extremely dangerous because vehicles travel at high speeds, increasing the risk of accidents. If a driver misses an exit, they should proceed to the next junction to turn around, and never reverse or make a U-turn on the expressway.
