On the afternoon of 19/5, at 2:57 PM, a fire broke out on the 7th floor of the Safira Khang Dien apartment building in Long Truong ward, Thu Duc City. The blaze originated on the balcony of an unoccupied apartment in block C1, specifically at the location of an outdoor air conditioner unit.

Minutes after detection, the fire intensified rapidly, sending thick black smoke billowing upwards. Fire alarms activated, prompting hundreds of residents from various floors to quickly evacuate using emergency stairwells.
Numerous fire trucks and more than ten firefighters swiftly arrived at the scene. They coordinated with on-site security personnel to ascend to the apartment and extinguish the flames. The fire was brought under control within about 15 minutes, but it had destroyed many items inside the unit. The walls and balconies of the apartments above were blackened by smoke. Authorities suspect the cause was an electrical short circuit.

The Safira Khang Dien complex is in a bustling residential area, near the Vo Chi Cong intersection and the access road to the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.
The Safira Khang Dien apartment building comprises four towers, each 22 stories high, and includes two basements.
