The Lam Dong Department of Construction stated that the pass will remain closed until further notice, allowing workers to address landslide sites from last year.

During the closure, authorities have established checkpoints, barriers, and signs to direct traffic to alternative routes. For vehicles traveling from Lam Dong to Binh Thuan, drivers coming from National Route 20 can divert to National Route 28B, National Route 55, or use the B’Sa - Da P’Loa road to reach Phan Thiet.
Conversely, vehicles traveling to Da Lat from the North-South Expressway or National Route 1 should take National Route 28B, National Route 55, or the B’Sa - Da P’Loa route.
Gia Bac Pass, spanning over 10 km, experienced multiple landslides late last year during heavy rains. These incidents saw tens of thousands of cubic meters of soil and rocks inundate the road, paralyzing traffic and stranding many vehicles.
Earlier this year, the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee allocated 70 billion VND to address landslide sites on the pass. However, recent heavy rainfall has led to further spills of soil and rocks onto the road, creating significant safety hazards. Consequently, authorities made the decision to close the pass.
