Around 8:25 PM on August 5, a fire unexpectedly ignited at one store within Bien Hoa market, Tran Bien ward. The blaze quickly spread to adjacent areas, sending a column of black smoke hundreds of meters into the sky, visible from a considerable distance.

The market houses numerous closely packed business kiosks. Emergency services deployed to the scene to battle the flames and contain the spread.
